I had a pack of short ribs in the refrigerator and didn’t have a specific recipe so I decided to use the Internet to find a recipe. I thought braising would be the way to go since short ribs are a tougher meat and need to be slow cooked. Searching on ‘braised short ribs’ turned up this 5-star recipe on foodnetwork with more than 300 reviews. The directions looked relatively simple and was exactly what I was thinking.
They turned out absolutely delicious and really hit the spot on winter day.
A couple random comments on the recipe:
- Two ribs per person was the right amount at my house.
- I used a big oven safe soup pot to cook everything.
- Next time I will remove the membrane from the ribs as it was a little thick on my ribs.
- The prep work + browning ribs + cooking vegetables took me about an hour.
- The ribs were very tender after 2.5 hours in the oven.
- Served with garlic mashed potatoes. We used red potatoes and garlic oil to infuse the garlic taste.
